Top 8 Things to do in Luxembourg in February

This month is packed with traditional festivities that are not to be missed when you’re in Luxembourg, as well as a whole bunch of cultural events in theatre, dance, music and art. Do enjoy the fun, the ambiance and the get together around food and drink within the community. One of my all time favorites is the Buergbrennen on a Sunday night, where you gather around a big mountain of old Christmas trees and hay bales to be burnt in saying goodbye to Winter and welcoming Spring.

Anyways, here comes the selection of things to do in Luxembourg in February.

Until 03.03.: Photo exhibition – “Divine Ladies”

As a special recommendation by our Rosportlife contributor Paulo, the exhibition “Divine Ladies” is a must see when you’re around the City Center and want to be inspired by beautiful photographs of artsy, fashionable women.

@ Galerie Clairefontaine

Until 31.03.: Photo exhibition – “Leit an der Stad”

Talking about Luxembourg City. With the exhibition “Leit an der Stad” you get to discover people and public spaces in everyday life of Luxembourg City from the 1950s throughout the present.

@ City Museum

01.; 02. & 04.02.: Strangers

Strangers is the second collaboration between the National Theatre and Circle Theatre of New York and turns around a fugitive arriving on an uninhabited island with an unusual, almost paradoxical geography. Drawing on the work of Adolfo Bioy Casares, Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Albert Einstein, Strangers explores the nature of time and memory, the dividing line between magic and science, and the consequences of invention. Intrigued!? Find more info and tickets here.

@ Théâtre National

02.02.: Dead or Alive Slam

Dead or Alive Slam – This one is all about poetry and the artful use of the word while on a competition against others. Slamers competing are Frédérique Colling and Brice Montagne from Luxembourg, Klaus Lederwasch from Austria and Nestor from Belgium. Music is played by Marc Clement.

@ Brandbau Wiltz - Price: 10€ - Reduced Price 5€ - Kulturpass 1,50€

04.02.: Carmina Burana

If you are more into music and dance, than this is for you. See Carmina Burana interpreted by the National Ballet, Orchestra and Opera of Russia.

@ Rockhal – From 48€ - Doors: 15.00 – Start: 16.00

11.02.: Cavalcade Diekirch

February is the Carnival month and with that a couple of parades are taking place throughout the country, such as the “Dierkricher Cavalcade” with more than 60 floats and groups.

@ Diekirch – Start 14.30

18.02.: Buergbrennen

As mentioned the Buergbrennen is my personal favorite of this month. A great way to say goodbye to this endless grey winter of this year and looking ahead of a hopefully nice and warm spring.

22.2. – 6.3.: Luxembourg City Film Festival

For all film enthusiasts, the place to be. About 130 different films, including films made in / with Luxembourg will be shown during the Luxembourg City Film Festival.
